The year has come to a close. It’s been a difficult one with ups and downs, and the last few months have been hard dealing with burnout and imposter syndrome running rampant. But, decided to do a little wrap up for this year.
I didn’t read as much this year, mostly focusing on manga since they’re easier to digest. But, my favorite novels I read include The Amethyst Panda, Nocturnal Salvation, and Bloody Spade. I also had the chance to beta-read for a few people and it was an absolute blast. Beta-reading brings such an unbridled joy in reading something new and giving feedback on it.
For manga, I’m currently reading Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen after watching the anime and picking up new series too. I’ve been enjoying shorter series than the longer ones I used to read. Although, I’m more than ready for Bleach to come back next year and I will be blowing up Twitter when it’s out.
I played some video games this year, becoming addicted to Genshin Impact in September and it’s had a fierce chokehold on me since. I’ve made it to Inazuma and love the lore through the game and can’t wait for the next event. I finished Pokémon Sword, which was a decent game in the series, but nothing groundbreaking. Pokémon Snap was fun as well.
My taste in music has expanded, with my top artists being Spiritbox, The Amity Affliction, Survive Said the Prophet, Konomi Suzuki, Dayseeker, and ReoNa. I’ve been listening to more genres and finding fun songs.
I tried NaNo this year and didn’t make it, but wrote quite a bit anyway on a new story. I’m currently polishing up a piece for AMM next month.
Overall, this year’s been tough, but there’s some great memories as well.
How was your year? Any goals for next year?
As always, happy writing and happy New Year!
