NaNoWriMO

July Camp NaNoWriMo

July is here, and with it a new Camp NaNoWriMo. I took part in April, but I edited and reworked a previous WIP I had. For this Camp, I’m finishing the draft of my WIP Ravaged, which I’ve worked on and off for years.

Ravaged, a dystopian fantasy novel, is My Hero Academia meets Hunger Games. After her country is left in ruins from a magical attack, triggering a war between nations, Natalie joins the secretive branch of fighters to protect what’s left of her home. Given the power to absorb elements, and the temporary ability to copy other’s powers, Natalie rises in the ranks of her fellow gifted soldiers. When she’s assigned a stealth operation, she thrives for a chance to shine, unaware that enemy lines have may have already infiltrated her home country.

I began this WIP years ago, back in 2014, but after writing about 25,000 words, I lost interest. It’s unfortunately my worst writing habit. It’s easy to begin a project, but I almost never finish them. I struggled to finish my novel Hidden, which I’m currently querying. However, I’ve found NaNo, and the Camps, help force me to write. So, I’m aiming to finish Ravaged this time around.

I’ll post updates throughout the month and a big post at the end of July.

Have a good day and happy writing to everyone!

  1. Finishing a story is a skill of its own, and it’s one of the most daunting yet important parts of writing, which I’m sure you already know from your previous works. Anyway, wishing you the best during your querying journey, and I like reading your work. Thanks for sharing, Kaylen!
